Richard Constable 1932 - Artist in gouache and teacher, born in Lewes, Sussex, gained an art scholarship to Malborough Collage, 1945-50, later becoming an art teacher in various schools '59-'67.Participated in group exhibitians and from '67 had over 40 solo exhibitians including Heal's, Cooling, Radlett and Mignon gallery. Constable produced 'surrealist landscapes influenced by Oriental art'. Lived in Somerset. Gouache on paper signed and dated 26th Nov 1956 |

Basil Jonzen 1913 - 1967. Therese. Painter of landscapes, flowers and portraits and art dealer. Was married to the acclaimed sculpter, Karin Jonzen.Showed very successfully with Redfern Gallery which then sent him to Spain, France and the Canary Islands to paint. Renovated Sir Hugh Lane's studio house in London and ran a weekend art gallery there, attracting many distinguished clients.Arts Council holds his work. Oil on board signed Jonzen '62. |

Jack Yates. Ton Up Boys. Jack Yates 1923-Painter, collagist and artist in other media, photographer and teacher, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He studied at Sheffield College of Arts and Crafts, 1948-9, then worked in a commercial art studio,1949-50. The female figure was a notable feature of Yates' art, which displayed much wit and a dramatic sense of design. He said that Oskar Kokoshka 'opended my eyes'. Yates was an influential teacher at Camden Arts Centre, 1965-90, and he went on to teach at Camden Schoolo of Art. He was editor of Kaleidoscope Magazine, issues 1-8, wrote for artist magazine and with his wife Hanne produced photographic work. Took part in many mixed shows, including LG, 1952; New Arts Centre, 1959; RA from 1963;Camden Arts Centre from 1965; Angela Flowers Gallery, 1975; Tate Gallery,1981;and Knapp Gallery,1989. Had solo shows at gallery 60,Colchester,1963-4,others including Heal's Mansard Gallery,1965 and 1970;Camden Arts Centre from 1970;Alfred East Gallery in Kettering, 1989;and Jack Yates and Friends, retrospective,Swiss Cottage Library,1993.Lived in London.
